AIR DOLL (2009) directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda is a surreal Japanese drama about a latex sex doll which comes to life.
Hideo (Itsuji Itao) lavishes affection upon his doll, Nozomi (Bae Doona, LINDA LINDA LINDA), and seems to appreciate her silently passive nature. Unbeknownst to him, however, one day Nozomi gains consciousness and sets out in search of the human experience of a having a soul, fascinated by everything she sees.
On her wanderings she happens upon a video rental store, where she meets Junichi (Arata). As an emotional bond forms between the pair, Nozomi is gradually introduced to the more complex nature of human emotion.
