The Story

A GOOD RAIN KNOWS (2009) (also known as Season of Good Rain) is a delicate exploration of the "what ifs" that haunt our past and the serendipity that shapes our future.
The story follows Dong-ha (played by South Korean superstar Jung Woo-sung), an architect on a business trip to Chengdu, China. Amidst the city's lush greenery and ancient history, he unexpectedly reunites with May (Gao Yuanyuan), a former classmate from his university days in the U.S. As they wander through the bamboo groves of the Du Fu Thatched Cottage, they begin to peel back the layers of their unfinished history.
Through this time together, the two rediscover a spark that never quite ignited years ago. However, May carries a secret burden from the recent past that threatens to keep their connection in the rain. Named after a famous verse by the Tang dynasty poet Du Fu, this film is a visual masterpiece that captures the quiet ache of nostalgia and the healing power of a well-timed reunion.
